David Jobst began playing shakuhachi in 1993. He first studied with David Brown in Melbourne before moving to the Blue Mountains near Sydney to study with Grand Master Riley Lee. In 2009 he received a Henderson Scholarship and commenced studying (under the guidance of Grand Master Riley Lee) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. After receiving a Graduate Diploma in Music (Performance) David traveled to Japan to study with Master Kaoru Kakizakai. After arriving back in Australia David applied again at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and went on to complete a Master of Music Studies (Performance) Degree, graduating with Distinction.

David has performed at many festivals and events.
