David Jobst began playing shakuhachi in 1993. He first studied with David Brown in Melbourne before moving to the Blue Mountains near Sydney to study with Grand Master Riley Lee. In 2009 he received a Henderson Scholarship and commenced studying (under the guidance of Grand Master Riley Lee) at The University of Sydney, Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Completing his Graduate Diploma in Music (Performance), David passed with Distinction and then traveled to Japan to study with Master Kaoru Kakizakai for six months. After arriving back in Australia David returned to study at The University of Sydney, Sydney Conservatorium of Music and completed his Master of Music Studies (Performance) Degree, graduating with Distinction.
David has performed at many festivals and events.
